Solo: A Star Wars Story. Trailer breakdown and review.
The trailer for the next Star Wars side story film is finally here. Yes, Solo: A Star Wars Story. But is it a sigh of relief for fans or a train-wreck waiting to happen?
Today I’m going to do a quick breakdown of the Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer to get a full view of what to expect from this upcoming blockbuster.
Han Solo’s Backstory
“I was kicked out of the flight academy for having a mind of my own.”
We finally get to see Solo (played by Alden Ehrenreich) get fleshed out – including his backstory – during this next instalment. This includes him meeting Lando Calrissian, who will be played by Donald Glover. As well as a little love flame from his past.
We see that Han Solo always aimed to be the greatest pilot in the galaxy, but started his journey as just a recruit for the empire… until he was kicked out of the academy of course. He then went on to be the badass, smooth talking scoundrel we know and love.
The trailer also gives us a sneak peak of the brand new Millennium Falcon, which looks so damn clean. I love it!
New and Old Faces
Personally, as a fan of the franchise, I love the fact that Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, would be taking on the role of Solo’s close friend, Lando. Seeing him looking cool as hell put a smile on my face, as well as many, many others. And of course, what is Han Solo without his trusty Chewbacca?
But it’s the new faces that are grabbing the attention of fans. Emilia Clarke takes on the role of an interesting potential love interest, Kira. Woody Harrelson jumps into the ring as well, playing the team leader and mentor, Beckett.
Good or Bad?
Rumours about the release of this movie, as well as recent instalments in the franchise, had fans worried. First the directing team for the film was replaced, and then Michael K Williams was completely removed from the film, replaced by Paul Bettany. Rumours even suggested that Disney itself believed that Solo was going to be a box office disaster. This made fans very nervous for its release.
The trailer on the other hand offers plenty of action and hints at the film being an amazing, if not one of the greatest, ‘Space Caper’ stories to tell your kids about. If of course they aren’t watching the film themselves.
But was it enough to turn heads? I personally loved the trailer and am super excited for its release. Fans seem to be super excited to see if Solo can bring its A-game on Memorial Day. Well the kind of excitement you know and expect to come from a Star Wars fan like myself.
If for some reason you didn’t already, I highly recommend you check out the trailer and let the joy build up within you as we wait for Memorial Day.
