Teamfight tactics
Riot's new mode, Teamfight Tactics.

Teamfight Tactics is a new tactical strategy game that pits you in a free-for-all competition to build the best team of Champions to fight.

Building off the wildly successful online multiplayer League Of Legends, Riot recently introduced a new mode that will provide lifelong fans (and even new players) of the franchise with a new and innovative gaming experience.

What is Teamfight Tactics?

Teamfight Tactics is a round-based tactical strategy game played with 7 other players. Players will face off in 1-on-1 matches until the final player is crowned winner.

To win Teamfight Tactics, all you have to do is recruit the best team of Champions, upgrade that team, manage their Gold, and structure winning battle formations. Oh, and also you have to strategise better than your opponents otherwise you’d be knocked out fairly quickly.

Teamfight Tactics
An exciting arena that allows gamers to focus on the fun of friendly competition.

TFT also focuses on “playful competitiveness”, allowing gamers to interact with one another in a game of friendly competition. Despite LoL being the forefront for eSports, Riot have mentioned that, at the moment, they don’t intend to make Teamfight Tactics an eSport. Instead, they want to focus on making the gaming experience the most enjoyable that it can be.

How does Teamfight Tactics overlap with League of Legends?

Well to start with, TFT is a mode that you can only play through the League of Legends program. That being said, anyone can create a new account and get started. There are no level restrictions or account requirements, just set up a LoL account and you’re good to go!

As for the lore itself, Riot have mentioned that the story and characters in TFT will exist outside of the original League canon. That said, they intend to include all their League Champions into the new game. As of the launch, they have introduced a set of 50 characters with 13 different origins and 10 different classes. Players can expect to see even more familiar faces very soon.

When can we get started?

As mentioned before, the mode has already been released and is available for gameplay on the League of Legends client. No purchases, no prior experience necessary. Just sign up and have fun!

Not much is known about what Riot intends to do with this game in the future, all we know is that they are committed to making the game the best possible experience for the time being.

We can’t wait to see where Riot decides to take the new game in the near future!

I love all things film and pop-culture. I make puns sometimes too.
